About the Role
MMD Construction is seeking an experienced Groundworker to carry out all aspects of groundworks and civil construction activities on site in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and Irish construction standards. The successful candidate will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
 Carry out all aspects of groundworks, including excavation, drainage, ducting, kerbing, paving, concreting, and site preparation works.
 Read and interpret construction drawings to ensure works are completed accurately and to the required standards.
 Install drainage systems, manholes, pipes, and associated infrastructure in accordance with project specifications.
 Prepare foundations, substructures, and concrete works as required.
 Operate small plant and equipment safely and efficiently where authorised and trained.
 Ensure all works are completed in line with programme requirements while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
 Coordinate with Site Management and other trades to ensure smooth progress of works.
 Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
 Identify and report any issues relating to materials, drawings, or site conditions.
 Ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations and company quality standards.
 Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and site rules at all times.

Qualifications & Experience
 Preferably 3 years' experience as a Groundworker on residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction projects.
 Proven experience in drainage, concrete works, kerbing, paving, and general groundworks activities.
 Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
 Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality requirements.
 Experience working around underground services and site infrastructure.
 Excellent attention to detail with a focus on workmanship and project delivery.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team.
 Good communication and organisational skills.
 Knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and Construction Regulations.
 Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
 Plant tickets (e.g. Dumper, Roller, Excavator) desirable but not essential.
