This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.


We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Deli Assistant under the Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP). This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy retail food environment, develop new skills, and build confidence in the workplace. 

You will gain experience in: 
 - Providing friendly and efficient customer service at the deli counter 
- Assisting with food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, and hot food 
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in food preparation and service areas 
- Supporting the team in stocking and organising deli and shelves 
- Ensuring the interior and exterior of the store are kept clean and tidy 
- Following all health and safety procedures and food safety regulations 
 - Will learn and assist on the Tills  
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

The participant will receive formal training in the following:

- Manual Handling 
- Health & Safety 
 - Slips Trips & Falls Prevention 
- Fire Safety 

The participant will receive informal training in the following:
