Job Description

The Grace Westport Estate is seeking to recruit a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Westport Estate, Co. Mayo.

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Head Chef and will support the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This role involves food preparation, cooking, supervising junior kitchen staff, assisting with service, maintaining hygiene standards, and helping ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 Assist the Executive Head Chef and senior kitchen team with daily kitchen operations.
 Prepare, cook and present dishes to a high standard.
 Support menu preparation, food production and service.
 Supervise and guide junior chefs and kitchen staff when required.
 Ensure all food is prepared and served in accordance with company standards.
 Maintain high standards of food hygiene, HACCP and health and safety procedures.
 Assist with stock control, stock rotation and ordering when required.
 Help ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during busy service periods.
 Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.

Requirements

 Previous experience working as a chef in a hotel, restaurant, estate, catering or similar hospitality environment.
 Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
 Understanding of food safety, HACCP and hygiene standards.
 Ability to work well as part of a busy kitchen team.
 Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
 Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards during service.
 Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent practical experience would be an advantage.

This is a full-time position based at Westport Estate, The Demesne, Newport Road, Westport, Co. Mayo, F28 E438.

Salary: €40,000 gross per annum
