Key Duties Provide welfare support and advice to service users on their rights, entitlements, and available resources. Support service users to develop daily living skills and maintain their own environment. Assist with the implementation of care plans, including medication support and alcohol intake plans, in conjunction with nursing and management staff. Record and report any non-compliance with care plans or medication regimes. Carry out night-time security monitoring of the building and its environs. Supervise service users throughout the shift, with particular attention to those with high care needs. Assist service users with personal monies and service charge payments where required. Liaise with professionals across social work, healthcare, and related welfare services. Alert on-call management to any crisis or behaviour management issues as they arise. Maintain accurate records including service user files, incident reports, and project statistics (OTIS, IR, AR). Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained in accordance with Depaul policy and the project Safety Statement. Work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team, attending team meetings and staff development days. Participate in regular supervision, annual appraisal, and own training and development. Adhere to all Depaul policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Confidentiality, and Equal Opportunities. Requirements A relevant qualification at QQI Level 5 or above in a welfare, community, health or related field, and/or significant relevant experience working in homelessness services, residential care, or a related welfare setting. At least one year’s experience in the homelessness field or a suitably related area, desirably in a residential setting. An understanding of harm reduction principles and low threshold working. An understanding of why people become homeless and the complex needs they may present with. Knowledge of risk management principles and the ability to respond calmly in a crisis. An understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a residential setting. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of the vision, mission and values of Depaul Ireland. Manual Handling qualification desirable.
