This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process. 


Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

We are currently looking for a Trainee Sales Assistant to join our friendly team in a busy golf retail shop through the Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP).

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain valuable work experience in a supportive environment.

This six-month placement will provide practical experience in the following:

Assisting customers in the golf shop
Handling sales and operating the till
Restocking shelves and maintaining displays
Helping with general shop organisation and cleanliness
Learning about golf equipment, clothing and accessories
Providing friendly and helpful customer service
Assisting with digital organisation and administration
Learning to manage and update website content

This position is offered through the Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP).  
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.  

The participant will receive formal/ informal training in the following

Formal Training:
Stock control
Integration of Xpos System with Website
Adding website content
Social media marketing
Digital organisation and administration

Informal Training:
Practical retail experience
Customer service skills
Knowledge of golf equipment and products
Experience working in a golf club/shop environment
