Post 2 Junior day .83 post pro rata - also week on/week off. Both posts for the duration of the 2026/’27 school year Commencement Date: 27th August 2026 Application Closing Date: Friday, 10th July 2026 at 4:00 PM Salary: As per salary scale for SNAs published on gov.ie General Description of Duties The Board of Management of St. Christopher’s invites applications from dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified individuals for the position of Special Needs Assistant. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Principal to provide critical non-teaching care support and student support duties to pupils with additional needs. In line with Department guidelines, duties include assisting with core care needs (e.g., mobility, personal hygiene, emotional regulation, and safety) and actively fostering the student's independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion within the school community. Specific Requirements & Competencies Minimum educational qualifications as per Department of Education regulations (Junior Certificate with 3 Grade Ds minimum, or QQI Level 3). A QQI Level 5 or 6 in Special Needs Assisting or equivalent is highly desirable. Practical experience working with children with additional needs (such as Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, or physical disabilities) in an educational or care setting. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. A calm, empathetic disposition and a strong commitment to supporting the inclusion and well-being of all pupils. Candidates must be subject to Garda Vetting clearance, Medmark medical fitness assessment, and reference checks.
