We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of heavy goods vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate must hold a valid EC (Category CE) driving licence and have diagnostic and mechanical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with health and safety regulations.
Prepare vehicles for CVRT/DOE testing and maintain roadworthiness standards.
Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
Respond to roadside breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Operate vehicles safely for testing and movement purposes.
Essential Requirements
Qualified HGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Technician, or equivalent trade certification.
Valid EC (Category CE) Driving Licence – essential.
Previous experience working on HGVs, trucks, trailers, or commercial vehicles.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Good understanding of vehicle electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop environment.
Desirable Requirements
Experience with fleet maintenance.
CVRT/DOE preparation experience.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Breakdown and recovery experience.
