Polar Logistics is looking for a refrigerated HGV driver who will be responsible for transporting temperature-controlled goods such as food, pharmaceuticals, and other perishable products while maintaining the correct temperature throughout the journey.
Duties include:
Conduct vehicle checks before departure, including refrigeration unit inspections.
Load and secure cargo safely, ensuring goods are protected and temperature requirements are met.
Monitor and maintain refrigeration temperatures during transit.
Complete deliveries and collections according to schedules and customer requirements.
Keep accurate records of temperatures, delivery notes, tachograph data, and vehicle checks.
Comply with driving regulations, including drivers' hours, working time rules, and road traffic laws.
Report faults or breakdowns of the vehicle or refrigeration equipment immediately.
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are followed where applicable.
Communicate with transport planners, customers, and depot staff regarding delivery status or delays.
Carry out basic vehicle cleaning and maintenance checks to keep the truck and trailer in good condition.
Use temperature monitoring systems and maintain audit trails for sensitive loads.
Key Requirements:
Valid HGV licence
Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
Knowledge of temperature-controlled transportation requirements.
Good time management and route planning skills.
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.
Ability to work independently and safely.
