First Year Apprentice Vacancy Job Title: Road Surface Technician (RST) Apprentice Responsible to: Senior Contracts Manager RST Apprenticeship Entry Requirements Applicants must meet the entry requirements as follows: • Applicants must be employed by an approved employer participating in the programme, i.e. Tarstone Road Maintenance AND • Hold a minimum of 5 subjects (Grade O6 / H7 or higher) in the Leaving Certificate, or an equivalent qualification. OR • Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic entry requirements may be considered through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, in accordance with TUS’s approved RPL policies and procedures. RPL applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. OR • Transfers into Stage 1 of the programme will be considered from other approved engineering or construction-related programmes at a comparable level. Applicants seeking to transfer must meet the programme’s employment requirements, i.e. they must be employed by an approved employer participating in the programme. Due to expansion and as part of our Apprenticeship Programme, we are currently interested in recruiting 1st year Road Surface Technician/s to join our growing team. The role: The apprenticeship offered will be for a 2-year period and will involve both on the job and off the job training. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a nationally and internationally recognised FETAC Level 6 Certificate. The person: Skills and Competencies: • Minimum SOLAS entry requirements is essential • Leaving Certificate with a pass in 5 Ordinary level subjects is essential • Ability to work in a team • Ability to work on own initiative • Display a keen interest in Road Surfacing • Interested in working in a fast-paced environment • Attention to detail is fundamental to ensure quality is consistently delivered • Continuous improvement mindset • Full Clean Driver’s license We understand the importance of investing in our apprentices, so alongside an agreed competitive level salary (paid weekly), we provide training and development, accommodation assistance and rent contribution, employee assistance programme, career progression post apprenticeship, further education and other benefits.
