First Year Apprentice Vacancy
First Year Quantity Surveying Apprentice Vacancy 2026-2027
P&D Lydon are seeking motivated Quantity Surveying Apprentices to join our team.
P&D Lydon is one of Ireland’s leading civil engineering contractors, operating a modern fleet of construction plant and equipment. We deliver projects across a diverse range of sectors, including Roads and Infrastructure, Utilities, Rail, Marine, Water, and Wastewater Management, primarily for Local Authorities and State Agencies. We currently have opportunities available across projects throughout the West of Ireland.
The Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship is a full-time programme that combines practical, work-based learning with structured academic study. As an apprentice, you will be employed full-time by P&D Lydon while undertaking your academic studies through the “earn as you learn” model.
The academic element of the programme is delivered by Atlantic Technological University (ATU), the coordinating provider for the Level 8 Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship in Ireland. Academic modules are delivered online one day per week, with attendance required at the ATU Sligo campus one day per month for workshops, practical sessions, and face-to-face tuition.
This three-year apprenticeship programme combines both on-the-job and off-the-job learning, providing apprentices with valuable industry experience while developing the technical and commercial skills required for a career in quantity surveying. Apprentices will work alongside experienced commercial and project teams, gaining exposure to cost management, procurement, contract administration, valuations, and project financial reporting.
Apprentices are required to attend ATU Sligo during the first week of each semester and once per month thereafter to complete workshops and practical learning activities. Lectures are delivered online one day per week.
Upon successful completion of all programme requirements, apprentices will be awarded a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Quantity Surveying (Level 8) on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
P&D Lydon Offers:
• Practical industry experience with experienced quantity surveyors and project professionals
• Exposure to live civil engineering and infrastructure projects
• Mentorship and professional development opportunities
• Flexible working arrangements to support academic commitments
• A structured pathway to a professional career in quantity surveying
• Potential future graduate opportunities within the company
• Performance-linked remuneration package including college tuition, transport, and a mobile phone.
Successful completion of the programme requires full attendance at all scheduled training sessions and successful achievement of all academic and professional requirements.
Location: Western Region – Galway, Mayo and Limerick
Commencement Date: September 2026.
