Civil Engineer – Earn While You Learn Programme
Location - Dublin
Bennett Construction is a family-owned Irish construction company with over 100 years of experience. We specialise in various sectors, including commercial, residential, and data centres, and have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects with a focus on client satisfaction.
We are partnering with SOLAS and Atlantic Technological University (ATU Sligo) to offer a unique "earn-while-you-learn" opportunity for aspiring Civil Engineers.
About the Role:
• Apprentice Civil Engineer (Level 7): Full-time position on one of our project sites based in Dublin.
• Combined Learning: Gain valuable on-the-job experience (4 days/week) alongside structured training at ATU (1 day/week online lectures + 1 day/month lab workshops).
• Duration – 3-year programme
• Comprehensive Support:
o Mentorship: Dedicated mentor to guide you throughout the programme.
o Funding: Full funding for ATU training provided by Bennett Construction
Key Responsibilities
Site Engineering Support:
• Assist the Engineering Team with setting out and checking works as required for the project.
• Coordinate Sub-Contractors, including maintaining a daily Site Diary detailing resource levels for each Sub-Contractor and keeping accurate notes of all on-site activities.
• Schedule daily Work Programmes as allocated.
• Assist in scheduling steel reinforcement and other material requisitions.
• Conduct Concrete Cube testing, including recording locations, sending for testing, and analysing results.
• Carry out other required quality checks.
• Attend weekly Management Team meetings as required.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum Leaving Certificate requirement of 5 O6/H7 grades, including maths. Due to the strong maths and physics content of the course, H5 grades in these subjects are preferable.
• Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings.
• Proactive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a passion for Civil Engineering.
• Ability to work in a team.
