This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Warehouse Assistant This Work Placement Experience Programme offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy warehouse and distribution environment. The successful participant will work alongside experienced staff, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and yard while developing valuable skills in logistics, stock management, health and safety, and teamwork. • Manual Handling • Receiving and checking incoming deliveries • Matching deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes • Safe unloading, handling and storage of goods • Picking, packing and preparing customer orders • Labelling and organising stock • Carrying out stock counts and reporting discrepancies • Preparing goods for dispatch • Product identification and familiarisation • Safe use of pallet trucks, trolleys and other warehouse equipment • Keeping the warehouse and yard clean, safe and organised • Identifying damaged goods and following the correct reporting process • Working safely around vehicles and forklifts • Teamwork and communication • Time management and prioritising daily duties • Problem-solving and attention to detail • Customer service when dealing with collections, suppliers or delivery drive
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
