Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Dairy Farm Assistant to join our dairy farm team. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day management of the dairy herd and general farm operations.

Duties will include:

Carrying out daily milking operations and maintaining high standards of milk hygiene and quality.
Feeding and caring for dairy cows, calves and youngstock.
Assisting with calving and monitoring the health and welfare of livestock.
Safely handling and moving cattle.
Cleaning and maintaining milking equipment, animal housing and farmyard areas.
Assisting with calf rearing and general animal husbandry.
Carrying out grassland management, fencing and other seasonal farm work.
Operating tractors and farm machinery where appropriately trained.
General farm maintenance and ensuring a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Following farm health, safety, animal welfare and biosecurity procedures.

Key Requirements

Minimum 2 years' practical experience working on a dairy farm or in a similar livestock farming role.
Good practical knowledge of dairy farming, milking procedures and livestock husbandry.
Experience with cattle handling, animal welfare and calf care.
Ability to work safely and effectively around livestock and farm machinery.
Tractor and farm machinery experience is desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, hardworking and physically capable of carrying out outdoor farm work.
Good attention to hygiene, animal welfare and farm safety.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
