Shaw Commercials Group in Castlebar is currently recruiting for Product Engineer positions.

Reporting to the Managing Director / Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play an important role in the business with have multiple responsibilities and duties that will span across various departments. This is a busy work environment working to weekly and monthly deadlines. 

Job Description:

Ensure all vehicles comply with UN ECE Directives and relevant Irish and EU regulatory requirements.
Assist with vehicle certification, approval, and registration, coordinating with internal teams and external authorities.
Provide technical guidance to bodybuilders and external partners to ensure vehicle modifications meet engineering and compliance standards.
Perform technical analysis of vehicle systems and warranty cases, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
Support product development and engineering updates, including specification reviews, validation, and implementation of improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, service, operations) to support product lifecycle management and continuous improvement.
Develop and deliver technical training materials and documentation to enhance understanding of vehicle systems and compliance.
Analyse warranty and service data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for product enhancement.
Identify technical bottlenecks and propose practical engineering solutions to improve product performance and operational efficiency.
Stay updated on emerging vehicle technologies, including EVs, charging systems, and advanced safety features.

Candidate Requirements

Essential
  • Minimum Experienced Required (Years): 5
  • Minimum Qualification:Level 5 (incl Leaving Certificate/ Leaving Certificate Applied/ Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme) OR Recognised bachelor's degree or diploma, OR substantial relevant hands-on experience in the commercial vehicle or automotive industry.
