Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. 


The Bantry Development & Tourism is a completely voluntary association. The suitable candidate will help manage the Bantry Tourist office with local volunteers. The Tourist Office this year provided information to 24,000 visitors.  The office is open every day from 1st April to 31st October. Other work to be carried out during the closed period. 

. Promoting existing tourist attractions through advertising campaigns, developing promotional literature and copy for tourism guides/newsletters.
. Carrying out research of existing tourist attractions to gain customer feedback in order to make improvements.
. Researching local history and local people's views in order to develop potential new tourist attractions
. Working with the media and other local partner organisations to raise the profile of the local area, generate positive publicity.
. Organising special and seasonal events and festivals.
. Providing support, guidance. 
. Consulting with local tourism businesses such as tour operators, restaurants and guest-houses, to assess the effectiveness of current tourism development policies and to develop an overall tourism development strategy. 

This position will provide valuable experience for the worker.

The following would be desirable:
. Fluent English
. IT Skills
. Good Local Knowledge.
. Team Worker.
. Flexibility  (hours may vary depending on the events)
