This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.


During the placement, the participant will gain practical experience supporting the gardening team within the Community Gardens of our busy Co-op.. During the placement you will gain hands on experience working with experienced staff members . Throughout the placement you will learn and assist with:
* Coordinating the direct flow of fresh produce from raw soil harvest to commercial kitchen line items based on daily café volumes
* Mapping out garden beds and coordinating manual harvesting schedules to directly match the changing weekly menu requirements of the café kitchen
* Managing the low tech washing, grading sorting, and traditional  temperature storage of earth grown produce to optimise freshness and elimiate waste. 
* Tracking raw harvest weights against final kitchen usable weights to analyze crop performance and economic efficiency within a hospitality business.


 
This is a training and work experience opportunity , no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social  Protection . This optional module will fulfill your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
