We are seeking reliable and hardworking Fencing Operatives to join our fencing team.

The successful candidates will work as part of a 2–3 person fencing crew, carrying out a wide range of fencing projects throughout County Kerry.

The role will suit someone with previous fencing experience, but candidates with a strong construction, agricultural or practical background will also be considered. Full training can be provided.

We are looking for people who are physically fit, practical and willing to work outdoors in a demanding environment. Previous fencing experience is an advantage, but the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are equally important.

Key Responsibilities

The fencing operative will be involved in a wide range of fencing and associated work, including:

Agricultural stock fencing.

Electric fencing.

Post-and-rail fencing.

Timber fencing.

Deer fencing.

Mesh and wire fencing.

Installation of gates and gate systems.

Fence repairs and maintenance.

Setting out fence lines.

Digging and installing fence posts.

Installing concrete and timber posts.

Straining and tensioning wire.

Fixing mesh, wire and rails.

Using hand and power tools.

Removing existing fencing where required.

Site preparation and clean-up where required by the particular job.

Loading, unloading and handling fencing materials.

Maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Working safely and efficiently as part of a fencing crew.

Following instructions provided by the office and supervisors.

Working to the required standard and completing jobs efficiently.

Working Environment

The majority of the work is outdoors and can involve challenging ground conditions and changing weather.

The role is physically demanding and requires the operative to spend most of the working day on their feet, carrying materials, digging, installing posts and using hand and power tools.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors and carrying out physically demanding work on farms, construction sites, commercial properties, forestry areas and other locations.

Working Hours

Normal working hours are:

Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

The role is primarily Monday to Friday, with no regular weekend work expected.

The company base is in Castleisland, County Kerry. Transport will be provided from the base to work sites as required.

Tools & Equipment

All necessary fencing tools and equipment will be provided by the company.

The majority of the work will involve hand tools and standard fencing equipment, although there are opportunities for employees who wish to develop their skills in machinery operation.

Experience operating equipment such as:

Post drivers

Mini diggers

Tractors

Augers

Other construction or agricultural machinery

would be an advantage but is not essential.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous professional fencing experience is preferred.

However, candidates with experience in:

Agricultural work
General construction
