This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
About the Role We are looking for a Cybersecurity Assistant – Endpoint & AppSec to join our Security team and help strengthen both endpoint and application security across the organization. You’ll gain practical experience with identity management, device security, patching, vulnerability management, and application security testing, while also supporting audit readiness. 🚀 What You’ll Do Support secure access and authentication by assisting with system upgrades and maintaining device enrollment into corporate management. Maintain device compliance and patch levels to uphold standards such as encryption, OS version, and baseline configurations. Assist in the operation of security monitoring tools including SIEM and EDR, ensuring visibility and coverage across endpoints. Review and organize security logs as part of ongoing monitoring activities to strengthen detection and response. Contribute to regular vulnerability assessments, helping validate that systems remain aligned with security standards. Assist in refining security playbooks for common events and operational workflows. Help coordinate phishing simulation campaigns and track employee awareness training results Support application security initiatives, including testing activities such as SAST, DAST, and penetration testing under supervision. Prepare clear documentation and audit-ready reports to support ongoing governance and compliance efforts. 🎓 What You’ll Learn Hands-on Identity & Access Management for endpoints and applications. This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. Formal Training: Hands-on Identity & Access Management for endpoints and applications. Practical endpoint security and compliance enforcement. Gain Experience with SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management tools. Real-world application security testing workflows (Pentest, SAST, DAST).
