Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.



Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

Assisting the Childcare Worker in the planning and preparation of daily routines and class activities. This will include:
Helping with the preparation of breaks.
Cleaning and tidying the classroom.
Shopping in the local shop for the centre.
Spending time with the children, individually and as a group.
Being involved in the daily activities of the class, with the support and guidance of the childcare worker.	
To work as part of the childcare team with the childcare worker and manager.
To learn about childcare with the help and support of the team through development meetings with the childcare worker.
To attend staff meetings and training days if/when possible.
Using policies and procedures in working with the children. Classroom assistants will get to know all of the centres policies and procedures over the first few months of work with the help and support of childcare workers.
To cover break times of childcare workers with the guidance and support of the child care manager
To follow accident/incident report procedure with the support and guidance of the child care worker.
