Location: On-site (waste management / recycling facility)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00; Saturday on call 
(Overtime or call-out may be required)
Job Purpose
To service, maintain, and repair company trucks to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and fully compliant with legal and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing,      inspections, and maintenance on company trucks
Diagnose mechanical faults and      complete repairs efficiently
Work on engines, brakes,      suspension, steering, gearboxes, and hydraulics
Prepare vehicles for MOT,      inspections, and compliance checks
Respond to breakdowns and minimize      vehicle downtime
Complete job cards, service      records, and defect reports
Ensure all vehicles meet road safety and legal standards
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop
Follow company health & safety procedures at all times
Health & Safety
Adhere strictly to health and safety policies and safe systems of work
Use PPE and approved tools correctly
Report defects, hazards, and incidents immediately
Ensure vehicles are safe before returning them to service
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven experience as a truck / HGV mechanic
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Good knowledge of HGV mechanical      systems
Ability to work independently and      manage workload
Strong health & safety      awareness
Desirable:
HGV mechanic qualifications (NVQ,  City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Experience in the waste or logistics industry
HGV Class C / C+E license

Reporting To: Fleet Manager / Maintenance Manager
