This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
e are a family-run garage business based in Dunmanway and we are currently offering a placement opportunity as part of the Work Placement Experience Programme. During their time with us, the successful participant will gain a wide variety of knowledge and skills through both informal and formal/industry-recognised training. This programme will provide the participant with the opportunity to develop practical skills and industry knowledge in a supportive workshop environment while working alongside experienced staff members. A training programme will be devised to enhance the participant's skills and knowledge relevant to the industry, as well as identifying areas for growth and development through the acquisition of new skills. Over the course of the programme, the participant will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of workshop activities, including: Working alongside colleagues and being shown the tasks involved in the maintenance of the workshop. Learning the tasks involved in the general upkeep of the garage yard and shop. Learning how to clean and prepare cars. Learning what is involved in refreshing the sales yard (e.g. moving equipment, cleaning areas, etc.). Learning how to complete administrative tasks related to completed work and upcoming jobs. Being introduced to workshop safety procedures and good working practices. Being introduced to the initial reporting procedures carried out when vehicles are taken in. Observing and gaining an understanding of the process of paint correction. Working alongside colleagues to gain an understanding of the day-to-day running of the garage. Observing customer interactions and being shown the administrative processes involved in the running of the garage. Learning about the safe use of tools and equipment used in a garage environment. Assisting colleagues with basic tasks while developing practical workplace skills.
The participant will receive formal training in: Manual Handling and Safe Lifting Fire Safety Abrasive Wheels Site Safety QQI WPEP Work Experience Module The participant will receive informal training in: The safe use of workshop tools and equipment. Workshop housekeeping and equipment maintenance. Digital and manual documentation of tasks completed and parts usage. Stock management of car parts. Customer service skills. Communication skills.
